- Appetizer Recipes - not always healthy but good for snacks and when you're in need of inspiration.
- Chicken Recipes - chicken can be a healthy source of protein. Just make sure you don't eat the skin (where all the calories are!), and that you buy good quality meat. Cheap chicken is pumped full of water and chemicals and has relatively low nutritional value when compared with organic or free-range chicken.
- Slow Cooker Recipes - also known as crock pots, slow cookers can be a healthy and cheap way to cook. You need to be organised to use one, and these allow you to buy cheaper cuts of meat (again, go for organic / pasture fed / free range etc...) as the cooking times will soften up any meat that would normally be tougher if you cooked it in a pan.
- Dip Recipes - not just for dips, but can be used as jacket potato or sandwich fillings (go for wholegrain bread!), as sauces on brown pasta or rice etc...
- Salsa Recipes - as with the dip recipes, you're not just limited to crudites and crisps.
- Sandwich recipes - if you are stuck in a lunch-time rut, there's some ideas in here to help. Just make sure you use wholegrain or brown bread, pitta or wraps.
- Smoothie Recipes - if you're not good at eating breakfast, try starting the day with a smoothie instead. Try using soya milk, or semi-skimmed and pack the with fruit with no added sugar. Yum.
- Summer Party Recipes - summer food can be really healthy - salads, grilled meat and fish...Be mindful of what you're doing and enjoy..!
